Polite Society Code Phrases:
Among well mannered people we have noticed a few subtle code phrases that are fairly common in meaning and general understanding.
"Bless his heart" (or Her):
... means "what a jerk".
"Minnie Bumpfrass called today to check up on me, bless her heart.""... Little ...":
Adjective, when not otherwise fit or descriptive, that conveys subtle but clear insult or derision.
"Bless her little heart"."With all due respect":
... is a clear signal that a lack of respect is about to follow.
"Minnie Bumpfrass, with all due respect, is a bit of a busybody.""He means well" (or She):
... translates "avoid like the plague", as complete incompetence is likely in view.
